Whew! It's been quite a week here in Middle Tennessee! We had an ice storm to end all ice storms Sunday night, which meant no school all week. In fact, the ice still hasn't melted in many areas and we just received a call saying students will not go tomorrow. Teachers will go in at noon. #wahwahwah
At any rate, the storm made me realize how #grateful I should be for some very big weather-related blessings.
For starters, I live in an area that doesn't get weather like this regularly. Tennessee typically experiences mild winters, which is great for weather wimps like myself. I'd much prefer 90 degrees in the shade any day, so I'm incredibly thankful that we don't have to cope with ice often.
During winter storms like this, I'm also #grateful to be a teacher. Well, not ONLY during storms, but especially so. #winkwink. When the weather is terrible, our district closes to best protect our kiddos and staff, giving students the opportunity to play in the snow and teachers the opportunity to, well, do whatever! For me, I was actually able to clean my house. Exciting, right?
Everyone enjoys some time off work. But planning for a sub day is just not worth it to many teachers. Snow days give us the free day without the hours upon hours of extra planning. Plus, trust me, I'm not a great driver when the weather is perfect. So really, everyone should be #grateful for this one, because it keeps me off the roads. 😉
Additionally, I'm #grateful for my husband's driving abilities and his Jeep. It sounds trivial, I know. But honestly, without it, we wouldn't have gotten out of the house at all. We were able to go to Church for Ash Wednesday mass, one of my favorite services of the year.
As I've said before, I started this blog as a way to force myself to see the silver linings in everyday situations. It just so happens that this week's silver lining is covered in an inch of ice. ❄️
