Hosanna to the Son of David! Yesterday was Palm Sunday, which marks the beginning of Holy Week.
Holy Week is the most intense time of the liturgical year. It is the end of the 40 days of Lent, where we are called to reflect upon our walks with Christ. As spiritually painful as Lent is, Holy Week goes beyond that by leading the Church through Jesus's agony. A walk through the Stations of the Cross, the reading of the Passion of Christ, the Washing of the Servants' Feet, these masses take you through the last few days of Christ.
We know that Jesus loves us so much that he died for us. We know that he suffered greatly for our sake. But we often don't think about it, or we don't realize just how terrible His suffering was. The Holy Week masses and services display His suffering, and therefore His love.

The high point of the week, arguably the highest point of the year is the Holy Triduum: the three-day long mass that includes Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Vigil on Saturday.
Ah, Easter Vigil! This mass holds a special place in my heart, as it is the anniversary of my Catholic confirmation.
Throughout the year, those who would like to join in full communion with the Catholic Church go through classes to learn more about the faith. At the Vigil mass, they are baptized, receive the Eucharist for the first time, and are confirmed. Although conversion is an ongoing journey, this mass marks the beginning of that journey. I will remember that day for the rest of my life!
This is my favorite time of year. The season reminds me just how much God adores us - to the point of death! Oh, how he loves us!
