I have a confession: I'm not great at scripture study. I make a promise to myself that I'll read the daily readings I even signed up to received scriptures through email. But it never fails, I forget to read them.
Don't get me wrong. I want to study God's Word, but I find myself zoning out while I read. I blame the ADD.
BUT!! I learned about something that has revolutionized scripture study! It's called Lectio Divina (lec-SEE-oh di-VEE-nah) which means "divine reading" in Latin. Essentially, the practice of Lectio Divina leads the reader to experience the scripture passage as if he or she is actually living them. There are four steps to Lectio: read, meditate, pray, and contemplate. First, a passage is read and then is meditated upon. The reader then prays for understanding and contemplates the Word.
I found some great resources on Lectio Divina here and here.
Please read up on this practice and consider adding it to your study! You will be ever so #grateful!
