I know, I know, I just wrote about calm in the midst of storms. Bear with me, please!
As I write, a summer storm is just beginning. I love to sit on the porch during storms! The smell of the rain, the rolling clouds, the rumble of thunder; I love it all. Always have, too. I have fond memories of swinging on the front porch with my father and sister, right in the middle of storm warnings. Not smart, I realize. But something about the threat of impending doom comforted me.
Comforted. Yes, strange word to describe emotions during the danger of storms. But I had a child-like faith that everything would be fine. Our home was sturdy, my parents would take care of me, no worries! And, while I take warnings more seriously now as an adult, I still find comfort in storms.
Let's translate that to metaphorical storms. I know my Heavenly Home is unshakeable. I know my Eternal Father is immovable. I should have no worries, as long as Jesus is in my boat!
Travel back to the Sea of Galilee with Jesus and His disciples. They were not the only people on the water at the time. Other boats were caught in the storm with them, but the others didn't have the Son of God on board. When Christ calmed the storm, the other fishermen felt the effects as well. They felt His Peace even without realizing the source.
It is the same with us. If we have Jesus in our lives, other people will feel His presence through us. We are called to be the vessel that carries Christ to others, called to bring Jesus to others.
I am #grateful that Jesus is on my boat, even when I don't realize His Presence, and I am #grateful to those who have shared Jesus with me!
